Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police provide 1000 free helmets to children

PSNews – The Traffic Police Division under the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Police Department on August 20 held a campaign to raise public awareness of abiding by regulations on wearing helmets for children when travelling with their parents on motorcycles.

Following the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, who is also the head of the National Traffic Safety Committee, on ensuring traffic safety for children nationwide, the Traffic Police Division under the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police on August 20 held a campaign mobilizing local people to wear helmets for children on motorbikes on the advent of the 2018-2019 academic year.

The Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police also held dissemination sessions on traffic safety and provided as many as 1,000 standard helmets to students at Tran Hung Dao street - Nguyen Thai Hoc street intersection; at the front gate of Hiep Binh Phuoc Primary School (630 National Road 13, Thu Duc District), at National Highway 22 - Viet Hung Street intersection and in front of the People's Committee of Da Phuoc Commune (Highway 50).

After the campaign, which will run until August 28, the Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police will increase checks and handle violations of traffic laws along the city roads.

Facts show that the number of children on motorbikes wearing helmets still remains low in in Ho Chi Minh City, which is the major reason for the increased rate of child casualties in road accidents.

However, most parents have now been aware of traffic safety after being warned by the traffic police. They all promise to wear helmets for their children while riding them on motorbikes.
