Laos awarded noble medals to Vietnam’s MPS leaders and teams

PSNews-On August 18 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos solemnly held a ceremony to award medals of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos to the MPS of Vietnam and its Deputy Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam for their achievements in absolutely ensuring security and safety of political events in Laos in 2016, especially the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summit meetings.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo Member, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam and Lieutenant General Somkeo Silavong, member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Minister of Public Security co-chaired the ceremony.

The event was attended by Deputy Ministers of Public Security of Vietnam: Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam; Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son; former Deputy Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Le The Tiem, and leaders, former leaders of General Departments, Commands and other relevant units and agencies.

Officials of Laos attending the event included Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane; Representatives of the General Departments, units under the Ministry of Public Security and the representative of the Lao Ministry of Public Security to Vietnam.

In 2016, the MPS of Vietnam co-ordinated, shared experience and provided technical support to the Lao Ministry of Public Security, contributing to the success of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summit meetings, held in Laos from September 6 to 8, 2016.

The success of the ASEAN Summits has demonstrated the development, strength and fulfillment of all duties of Lao security forces, enhancing Laos' position in the international and regional arenas.

At the ceremony, as authorized by the Lao State President, Lieutenant General Somkeo Silavong, Lao Minister of Public Security, attached the First-class Development Medal to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, presented a Development Order of first class to the MPS and a Labor Order of second class to Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam.

Speaking after receiving the noble medal given by the Lao State, Minister To Lam expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao Party and State for their recognition with the noble awards. He stressed that the medals were precious awards by the Lao Party, State and people to the Vietnamese public security officer and MPS with their great contributions to building and strengthening traditional good relations, comprehensive cooperation, special solidarity and friendship between the two nations. This also demonstrated the appreciation of Laos to the MPS of Vietnam.

Minister To Lam expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people will achieve greater achievements in their renewal process, successfully build an independent, united and prosperous country of Laos. The Lao Public Security Ministry will continue to win great battles in the fight against crime, preserving political security, social order and safety in the country.
