Minister To Lam pays a visit to UK

PSNews - Senior General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, leading a high-level delegation, on November 20, paid a visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of Sajid Javid, Minister of Home Affairs of the UK.

Mr. Sajid Javid warmly received Minister To Lam, and highly appreciated the fruitful results of cooperation between the two ministries, particularly in prevention and fight against organized crime, transnational crime, human trafficking and high-tech crime.

At the talks, Minister To Lam emphasized that, during the 45-year history of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom,the Vietnamese Government has always considered the UK as one of the top priorities in Vietnam’s foreign policy for peace, cooperation and development.

Over the past time, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Home Affairs of the UK have cooperated closely in prevention and fight against crime. Some areas of cooperation have been promoted in depth, such as prevention and fight against human trafficking, environmental crime, high-tech crime, illegal trade of wild animals, as well as immigration management.

In order to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two ministries in the coming time, the two sides agreed to maintain and boost exchange of delegations at all levels to share professional information and experiences in prevention and fight against human trafficking, high-tech crime, financial crime and illegal migration.

The two sides should accelerate negotiations and procedures to soon sign a treaty on extradition of criminals and other cooperation documents, which serve as a legal framework for bilateral cooperation activities between the two ministries.

Under the authority of the two countries’ governments, To Lam and Sajid Javid signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on prevention and fight against human trafficking.
