Minister To Lam receives incoming Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) on May 20th received Mr. Yamada Takio, newly-appointed Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam revealed that Vietnam and Japan annually hold the Deputy-Ministerial level Security Dialogue to discuss issues on crime prevention and control as well as other security of mutual concerns.

Recently, the two countries have promoted information exchange on social order and crime control when Vietnam is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-21 period and ASEAN Chair in 2020.

Minister To Lam suggested that the MPS and the Japanese side should continue promoting the bilateral cooperation in all fields in the time to come, contributing to strengthening the mutual understanding and trust between two sides. He also hoped that the two sides enhance information exchange and cooperation in addressing both traditional and non-traditional security challenges.

In the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, Minister To Lam affirmed that Vietnam in general and the MPS in particular are willing to provide support and share experience with Japan in prevention and control of the pandemic. He underlined that the MPS would provide favorable conditions for Japanese investors and experts to return to Vietnam to do business and work.

Via the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, Minister To Lam presented 10,000 face masks as gifts from the MPS to the Japanese police agency in the hope that the Japanese police and Japanese people will soon successfully control the pandemic.

Thanking Minister To Lam for the practical support for the Japanese police, Ambassador Yamada Takio affirmed that these facemasks will very much help Japanese police officers working on the frontline of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed his honor of being the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam at this important time.
