Minister To Lam receives US National League of POW/MIA Families

Minister of Public Security General To Lam received a delegation of the US National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action (POW/MIA), which was on a visit to Vietnam, on December 12, in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam welcomed Ms. Ann Mills Griffiths, Director of the US National League of POW/MIA Families, who had returned to Vietnam since January 2018 to discuss issues regarding search for American servicemen missing in Vietnam during the war.

The minister believes that these humanitarian issues will receive the full cooperation of the Vietnamese government and people.

Minister To Lam also congratulated Ms. Ann Mills Griffiths on her being re-elected as Director of the US National League of POW/MIA Families for the 2021-2023 term, and stated that Ms. Ann Mills Griffiths' visit took place at a time when Vietnam-US relations are thriving.

He also affirmed that the two sides still have great potential for cooperation in all fields.

The host stressed that humanitarian activities will continue to be a pillar and a bright spot in the Vietnam-US relationship.

On behalf of the US National League of POW/MIA Families, Ms. Ann Mills Griffiths thanked Minister To Lam for the warm welcome, and reaffirmed that she will continue to coordinate with Vietnamese authorities, including the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and relevant Vietnamese agencies, in search for US servicemen missing in action (MIA). 

According to her, MIA activities of the two countries in the coming time will also contribute to supporting the effort to deal with war legacies in Vietnam and strengthening cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and US relevant agencies in particular as well as US and Vietnam in general.
