Minister To Lam visits Dien Bien province

A Central-level delegation led by General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security had a meeting with the Standing Board of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.

The event saw the presence of Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Dao Minh Tu, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam among others.

According to a report on the province task performance in the first 9 months of 2019 and implementation of the project to support poor people building their homes in Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province, the provincial economy has grown at a high pace while education, healthcare, social security and poverty reduction have achieved positive outcomes.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam recognized and praised the achievements obtained by the Dien Bien authority and people over the past time.

Minister To Lam emphasized that Muong Nhe border district of Dien Bien province plays an important role in national defense and security, but Muong Nhe people still face many difficulties in life. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Dien Bien provincial authorities has mobilized local agencies and units at all levels to support the construction of homes for disadvantaged local families, thus helping them stabilize their lives and promote their production, contributing to local socio-economic development.

* Later in the afternoon, Minister To Lam and the delegates visited and worked with the Muong Nhe Communal Police Post in Muong Nhe District, Dien Bien Province.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam showed his empathy for the difficulties of local people and praised the local authority, Party committee and functional forces for their efforts to overcome difficulties to maintain security and social order, firmly protect national sovereignty and border security.

The Minister also emphasized the important role of the communal police force and asked them to foster their close relationship with local people so as to prevent crimes in the locality. Minister To Lam suggested the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department should promote the building of the local police force in general and communal police force of Muong Nhe district in particular while better coordinating with the professional police officers posted the communes to well maintain security and order in the locality.

* In the evening, Minister To Lam and the working delegation attended a special art program themed "For peaceful borderlines," performed by the art troupe of the People's Public Security Theater, in Muong Nhe district of Dien Bien province.
