Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired a monthly conference of the Public Security Forces on October 24, in Hanoi, assessing the work results of the forces in October and rolling out key tasks for November 2022.
Reports at the meeting read that, in October, the police force actively fought against crime, dismantled a number of criminal lines related to illicit drug trafficking, environmental crime, human trafficking, hi-tech crime, organized crime with the use of weapons and explosives.
The police agencies and units nationwide successfully investigated 3,181 cases of crimes related to social order or 84.96% of the total, caught 5,867 suspects, eliminated 44 criminal gangs and groups, arrested and handled 362 gambling cases with 1,716 gamblers.
The police forces also detected 2,244 illicit drug trafficking cases, arrested 3,457 suspects and seized 104 kg of heroin, 303 kg and 229,047 tablets of synthetic drug, 31.26 kg of marijuana while handling 65 individuals and six organizations committing environmental crime.
At the conference, under the direction of Deputy Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To presided over the discussion session, in which delegates focused on issues such as security in the financial sector, issuance of visas for foreigners entering Vietnam.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc emphasized the achievements in implementing the Government's Project 06, saying that 25 public services had been provided and showed positive results.
The Deputy Minister suggested that relevant agencies and units should closely follow the instructions of the leaders of the Ministry on the implementation of the project while quickly checking, fixing and cleaning data for the realization of Project 06.
Concluding the conference, Minister To Lam requested agencies and units at all levels to enhance law dissemination, contributing to preventing crime, mobilize forces to increase patrol and check, throughly grasp the security and order situation in their designated areas, focus on fighting criminal gangs, criminals using military weapons, step up fire safety inspection nationwide, accelerate the implementation of Project 06/CP and the issuance of electronic identification and authentication, identification numbers for organizations and citizens, and integrate optimal utilities in VneID application.
