Ministry of Public Security reviews anti-crime campaign

The Ministry of Public Security held a virtual conference on February 27, 2023, to summarize the anti-crime campaign during the 2023 Lunar New Year to ensure security and order for the Lunar New Year.

The meeting was transmitted from the Headquarters of the Ministry of Public Security to headquarters of all police departments of the 63 provinces and cities, and chaired by Minister of Public Security General To Lam.

At the conference, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security Senior Colonel Dang Hong Duc presented a report summarizing the situation and results of police work in February 2023, as well as the results of the anti-crime campaign to ensur security and order during the Lunar New Year and the key tasks for March 2023.

Accordingly, the police of units nationwide seriously implemented the work plan of the Ministry of Public Security for the 2023 Lunar New Year.

Many police units worked throughout the New Year, took synchronous and comprehensive measures to control crime, contributing to reducing crime, ensuring security and order, allowing the people to enjoy a happy spring and peaceful Tet holiday.

Meanwhile, the police also investigated cases of public concern, raising people’s trust in the Party, State and Government.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc then chaired the discussion session, during which delegates focused on comprehensively assessing the results of all aspects of work, clarified limitations in leadership, organization and implementation of plans and orders of the ministry. 

They also discussed the case related to the wrongdoings in the registry sector, problems and inadequacies arising in the process of removing household registration books and temporary residence books after December 31, 2022, as well as reported on the results of the inspection and handling of traffic violations, particularly drive-drinking and assess the situation of traffic order and safety in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc requested that the police units continue to improve the quality of basic investigation, effectively solve crime denunciations, grasp the situation and settle issues right from the moment and places when and where they arise. 

At the same time, police units should continue to review and accelerate the implementation of Project 06, continuously upgrade data in the National Population Database, which serves as a premise to buid digital government.

Concluding the conference, Minister To Lam requested that the police units should overcome the shortcomings and limitations pointed out at the conference, closely monitor developments, firmly grasp the situation to promptly advise the Party and State on appropriate guidelines and policies, firmly safeguard key premises and projects, important political, cultural and social events in while denying the formation security "hot spots" and accelerating the development of legal documents according to the schedule.
