Ministry of Public Security sets up ASEAN 2020 Security Subcommittee

PSNews -The Ministry of Public Security set up the ASEAN 2020 Security Subcommittee to ensure security and absolute safety for delegates, guests and people during the conferences and events of ASEAN 2020.

The ASEAN 2020 Security Subcommittee under the Ministry of Public Security, on July 11, organized a meeting to work on plans to ensure security and safety for Vietnam’s Chairmanship of ASEAN 2020. Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister, Head of the ASEAN 2020 Security Subcommittee, chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, Major General Bui Quang Hai, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security announced the decision on establishment of the ASEAN 2020 Security Subcommittee of the Ministry of Public Security.

Addressing at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam stressed that ensuring absolute security and safety of conferences and events hosted by Vietnam as the Chairman of ASEAN in 2020 is an important task, contributing to improving the position and role of Vietnam in the region.

He asked all public security agencies and units to heighten their sense of responsibility and proactively draw up plans to ensure security and absolute safety for delegates, guests and people during the conferences and events of ASEAN 2020.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam also demanded that all public security agencies and units should strictly implement the Ministry's Plan No. 132 based on their functions and assignments while actively grasping the situation and excluding any factors that can negatively affect the preparation and organization of meetings and events of ASEAN 2020.

He requested all public security agencies and units to work out plans to ensure vehicles, support tools, communications as well as to intensify training and drills for responsible public security officers and soldiers so that they can address any security and safety issues or fire incidents in a swift, accurate and effective manner.
