The Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Vietnam Women's Union and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province held a ceremony to mark the "World Day Against Trafficking in Persons" and "All people's Day to prevent and combat human trafficking" with the theme "Opening your arms to victims of human trafficking so that no one is left behind," on July 28, in Quang Ninh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga emphasized that protecting the rights of victims of trafficking in persons is one of the focused targets of preventing and fighting human trafficking.
This year's slogan "Opening your arms to victims of human trafficking so that no one is left behind" serves as a fulcrum helping victims of trafficking persons build a better life.
At the ceremony, delegates listened to representatives from the Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Women's Union chapter of Quang Ninh province explained about methods and tricks of human traffickers in recent times and the results of the fight of the criminal police force against the crime, as well as international cooperation in preventing and controlling human trafficking and support for victims of trafficking in persons.
Meanwhile, representatives from the Women's Union chapter of Quang Ninh province reported on local Women’s Union chapters’ effort and results in preventing and controlling human trafficking in the province.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc stated, “Over the past time, the Steering Committee 138/CP, the Ministry of Public Security and other ministries, branches and localities have drastically implemented tasks and solutions in The Government's anti-trafficking in persons program for the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, aiming at protecting "human rights", "human security" and bringing peace and happiness for the people.”
The Deputy Minister emphasized that, in order to improve the effectiveness of countering human trafficking, agencies, units and localities need to effectively perform tasks and solutions to prevent trafficking in persons that are articulated in documents of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government and the Government's Crime Prevention and Control Steering Committee.
