The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting with relevant ministries and agencies on March 18 to discuss issues related to the draft Decree on electronic identification and authentication of citizens.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Decree’s Drafting Committee, chaired the meeting.
Representatives from 21 ministries, ministerial-level agencies and members of the Decree’s Drafting Committee attended the event.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc affirmed that the development of a decree on electronic identification and authentication of citizens will create a legal basis for the management and exploitation of electronic identification and authentication of citizens, contributing to boosting digital transformation, building e-Government, and simplifying administrative procedures.
At the conference, Colonel To Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order announced the decision of the Minister of Public Security to establish the Drafting Committee for the decree on electronic identification and authentication of citizens
At the meeting, delegates gave comments on the draft decree which consists of six chapters and forty-two articles. They focused on discussing the necessity for such a decree, the outline and basic content of the draft decree, the authority to access electronic identification and authentication, and other related issues.
To conclude the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc asked relevant units and agencies to send written comments to the Drafting Committee, so that it can complete the Decree in April 2022 as scheduled.
