MPS delegation wraps up visit to Truong Sa Islands and DKI/2 platform

A delegation from the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and Central agencies and ministries returned to the mainland, finishing their 7-day visit to the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, the DKI/2 platform, on April 22.

Nearly 200 members of the delegation visit Truong Sa Islands. 

The working delegation was headed by Senior Colonel Tran Duc Canh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Naval, Ministry of National Defense while Lieutenant General Phan Xuan Tuy, Director of the Public Security Political Academy, was deputy head of the delegation, which consisted of some 200 delegates, who are leaders, officers and students from various units and schools as well as singers and artists at the Ministry of Public Security.

Under the authority of the MPS leaders and thanks to the support from the Ministry of National Defense, the MPS delegation paid a working visit to the Truong Sa Islands and DKI/2 platform from April 16 to 22.

The delegation travelled more than 1,000 nautical miles to visit and present giftsto officials and people living in 6 islands in the Truong Sa Archipelago and the DKI/2 platform.

At each stop, the delegation was briefed on the living conditions of the local soldiers and civilians as well as their mission of protecting sea and island sovereignty while delegates presented gifts and artists offered music performances to islanders.

In particular, public security officers also participated in a flag-salute ceremony and a parade on Spratly Island, as well as offered incense to the Hung Kings, held a commemoration ceremony of the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the fights for national sovereignty of the country...

Senior Colonel Tran Duc Canh expressed his thanks to the leaders of the MPS and nearly 200 delegates for their special affection toward the troops and people in the Truong Sa Islands and on the DKI/2 platform.

At the end of the trip, the Vietnam People’s Navy awarded “For the cause of protecting sovereignty over seas and islands” and “Soldiers of Truong Sa” medals to the delegates.
