MPS launches blood donation drive

In response to the call from Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong for the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day”, General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security on April 7 sent a letter urging all public security officers and soldiers to actively participate in voluntary blood donation drives.

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on April 8 launched a voluntary blood donation campaign themed “Red Journey” for the Public Security Forces. Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, chaired the ceremony.

Earlier, in response to the call from Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong for the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day”, General To Lam, Member of Politburo, Minister of Public Security on April 7 sent a letter urging all public security officers and soldiers to actively participate in voluntary blood donation drives.

In his letter, the Minister recognized and spoke highly of the efforts of public security officers and soldiers in ensuring public security and order as well as in preventing the COVID-19 epidemic. 

He also emphasized that, with the message “Every drop of blood is donated, a life could be saved”, the Public Security Forces at all levels should promote their active and pioneer role in voluntary blood donation movements, contributing to saving lives of patients and protecting the public health.

In response to General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s call "All people voluntarily donate blood" and the letter from General To Lam, on April 8, public security officers and soldiers across the country voluntarily donated nearly 2,000 units of blood.

At the launching ceremony of the voluntary blood donation campaign organized by the Ministry of Public Security on April 8, officers and soldiers from various units, including the Ministerial Office, the Traffic Police Department and the Professional Technique Department under the Ministry of Public Security, donated nearly 200 units of blood.

On the same day, policemen in provinces and municipalities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Binh, Dak Lak, Thanh Hoa organized blood donation drives and donated more than 1,200 blood units in total.

All voluntary blood donation drives were organized in accordance to the "social distancing" regulation articulated in the Prime Minister's Directive 16.
