MPS reviews task of ensuring security for Vietnam-Cambodia border demarcation

PSNews–The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on March 31 held a conference to review the task of ensuring security for the land border demarcation between Vietnam and Cambodia in the period of 2006-2020. Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the event. 

At the conference, delegates agreed that the local police units have contributed importantly to the Vietnam – Cambodia land border demarcation.

Over the past time, Vietnam and Cambodia have signed two legal documents recognizing the completion of 84% of the border demarcation and marker planting work, and exchanged the documents ratifying these two legal documents which took effect from December 22, 2020.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Part Committee and leadership of the MPS, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam highly appreciated the effort of the police forces during the land border demarcation process.

He then urged local police units in coordination with relevant ministries and branches to grasp the situation and protect the demarcated borders and landmarks while maintaining peace, friendship and development along the border line.

The Deputy Minister also asked relevant units to further prevent and fight acts of border sabotage, and at the same time coordinate closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and branches to complete the remaining 16% of the border demarcation and marker planting work.

On this occasion, a number of local police units and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Public Security for their outstanding achievements in the task of ensuring security for the land border demarcation between Vietnam and Cambodia, contributing to protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety in border localities.
