MPS to postpone some events celebrating Public Security Forces’ founding day amid COVID-19

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security will postpone a number of activities celebrate the 75th People’s Public Security Forces’ founding anniversary and the 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day amid the current complicated development of COVID19.

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, on July 30 chaired a meeting with the Ministry of Public Security’s leaders on measures to ensure safety for the events in celebration of the 75th People’s Public Security Forces’ founding anniversary and the 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day amid the current complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    According to reports at the meeting, in order to celebrate the 75th People’s Public Security Forces’ founding anniversary and the 15th “All People Protecting National Security” Festive Day, the Ministry of Public Security has planned to organize various events and sports competitions, including the Public Security Forces’ Regulations, Shooting and Martial Arts Competition, the 8th Congress of typical models in the 2015-2020 “For Homeland Security” emulation movement, and the 8th Sports Festival “For Homeland Security”.

    Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam affirmed that, amid the current complicated development of COVID19, the Ministry of Public Security will postpone a number of activities of the above celebration plan.

    Important events and activities that are deemed necessary will be organized on a smaller scale and in compliance with the regulations on prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    All celebration events which are planned to be held in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai will be cancelled.

    According to Minister To Lam, the Ministry of Public Security will further adjust the celebration plan based on developments of the pandemic situation in line with the directions of the National Steering Committee on Epidemic Prevention and Control, and the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee.

    * On the same day, Minister To Lam and other delegates attended the rehearsal of the 8th “For Homeland Security” Sports Festival’s opening ceremony, which is slated for August 1.
