The Ministry of Public Security held an online briefing, on the afternoon of April 5, 2023, connecting delegates from the ministry’s headquarters and those from provincial-level police units and localities nationwide to evaluate the results of implementing Directive No. 01/CT- Circular issued on January 3, 2023 by the Prime Minister on strengthening fire prevention and fighting in the current situation.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Van Long chaired the conference.
In the first quarter of 2023, the number of fire incidents and fire-caused losses decreased compared to the same period in 2022. The fire and rescue police force directly participated in 214 fire incidents, and hundreds of rescue operations, saving 116 people and finding 129 dead bodies.
100% of the provincial-level People's Committees and the provincial-level police departments have so far deployed plans to implement Directive No.01 of the Prime Minister.
At the conference, leaders of the local police units reported on the situation and results of their units’ implementation of Directive No. 01 in recent years, as well as proposed solutions to improve the quality of fire prevention and fighting work in the coming time.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that police units should continue to innovate in thinking, be fully aware of the importance of fire prevention and fighting work with the people regarded as the center, subject, goal, motivation and resource in this work.
Until June 30, 2023, all localities must complete the establishment of the inter-household counter-fire group model equipped with at least one fire extinguisher, and each group has at least one person trained in firefighting and rescue skills.
Meanwhile, local police units should improve the quality and efficiency of state management of fire prevention and fighting at fire-prone establishments and firmly grasp the fire situation in their localities.
