The contest, which was launched by the Counter-Narcotics Police Department and took place from July 20 to October 19, 2023, received widespread support and participation from Central agencies, ministries, branches and socio-political organizations, local governments, police units, Vietnamese people from all walks of life as well as overseas Vietnamese and international students in Vietnam.
According to the contest organizers, more than 3.2 million people participated in the contest and sent entries to the organizing panel online.
For the essay category, organizations selected and sent 5,000 entries to the organizing panel.
Of these, 2,500 entries are very well written with much valuable information, strong arguments and nice illustrations, 650 are handwritten, and the longest entry is 360 pages.
In particulara 76-year-old man in Hanoi has a hand-written entry with 130 pages, but the oldest contestant is a woman aged 81.
The constest has also drawn the participation of a large number of sschool students.
To raise the public awareness and people’s responsibility for conforming with the Law on Drug Prevention and Control, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that Central agencies, ministries, branches and localities should continue dissemination of the law and related documents, and join the police effort in preventing and fighting drug crime of all kinds.
