Police have restored public order and security in Hoi An

PSNews - In recent time, the Hoi An Municipal Police has promoted the movement "All people protecting national security", while actively preventing and handling crimes, particularly property theft and robbery.

Before and during the Lunar New Year Festival 2019, several robbery cases occurred in Hoi An City. Criminals mainly targeted foreigners. Against this backdrop, the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department took synchronous measures, quickly identified and arrested the suspects.

According to Senior Colonel Dinh Xuan Nghi, Head of the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department, the City Police in collaboration with the criminal police and mobile police of the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department increased patrols and positioned forces at hotspots in the town.

At noon on February 12, the team detected 3 suspicious subjects on a motorbike with licensed plate number 92K4-1741 running on the road. The team then stopped the vehicle for an irregular check but they speeded up. The police resolved to chase the men and successfully arrested them. The men were then taken to the criminal police office for interrogation.

Thanks to the local police’s efforts and with the evidence collected, the three men admitted that, from February 6 to 11, they carried out 4 property robbery cases of foreign tourists in Hoi An City. Currently, the Hoi An City Police are expanding an investigation into the case.

In recognition of these achievements of the local police, on February 13, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the Hoi An Municipal People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit and 10 million VND to the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department. On February 15, Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department also presented Certificates of Merit and 10 million VND to the Hoi An Police and 2 other individuals with outstanding achievements in investigating the cases.

Senior Colonel Dinh Xuan Nghi also informed that, earlier on January 21, the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department has established Police Unit 111, in charge of patrolling and ensuring security and order in Hoi An City.

Police Unit 111 is led by Head of the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department and consists of 2 working groups. After a short time since its inception, Unit 111 has discovered a number of cases of law violations, contributing to ensuring the security and order situation in locality. The operation of the police unit has received much support and praise from people and visitors.
