The Steering Committee for Climate Change Response, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search-Rescue and Civil Defense of the Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to review its work results in the first 9 months, and deploy plans to respond to typhoon No. 4 (Hurricane Noru), on the morning of September 27, in Hanoi.
Head of the Steering Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Le Van Tuyen chaired the meeting.
Reports at the meeting stated, in the first 9 months of 2022, the Ministry of Public Security implemented synchronous plans and measures to respond to climate change, while actively participating in natural disaster relief, search, rescue and civil defense, making an important contribution to mitigating losses caused by natural disasters, and the country's economic recovery and development goals.
Regarding the response to the storm No. 4, in the past few days, the Ministry of Public Security and relevant provincial-level police departments deployed a large number of police officers to key areas in response to this storm.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen emphasized the need to complete the organization and membership of the Steering Committee and urgently roll out key tasks and plans for the last months of 2022, and promptly encourage and reward teams and individuals with outstanding achievements in natural disaster relief, search and rescue.
To promote the role of the People's Public Security Forces in natural disaster prevention and control, contributing to minimizing the loss of life and property caused by the storm No.4, Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested that relevant police units and members of the Steering Committee should strictly follow directions of the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, and the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security on Storm No. 4.
The deputy minister also requested under-ministerial agencies to provide sufficient forces, means and resources for local police units in the Central region to respond to storms and floods while recommending local police units to closely monitor developments of the storms and triggered floods, and deploy forces to key traffic routes to guide people and vehicles through dangerous road sections.
