Minister of Public Security General To Lam on February 14 chaired the first meeting of the Ministry of Public Security’s (MPS) Steering Committee for the implementation of the project to apply population data, e-identification and digital authentication to national digital transformation in the 2022-2025 period with a vision toward 2030 (Project 06).
At the meeting, a representative of the MPS Office announced the decision of the Minister of Public Security on the establishment of the 24-member Steering Committee led by Minister To Lam. Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc is the Standing Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee while Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung are other Deputy Chairpersons.
The Steering Committee is tasked to direct the Public Security Forces to effectively implement Project 06; carry out online public services for organizations, businesses and people; maintain and develop the National Population Database and e-ID card project in support of the implementation of Project 06.
In his speech, Minister To Lam praised the standing bodies for their great efforts in advising the Government on developing Project 06.
The Minister required them to take suitable approaches to implement the project, thus bringing more benefits to people and businesses, and creating favorable conditions for the Public Security Forces in performing their assigned tasks.
Further, Minister Lam asked under-ministerial agencies and local police units to learn the significance of the project and try to effectively realize the project.
All involved agencies under the MPS should develop legal documents so as to legally facilitate the implementation of the project, Minister Lam stressed.
He said, they should assist the Government in drafting a decree on personal data protection and a decree on electronic identification and authentication.
The Minister also requested the Public Security Forces to ensure absolute security and safety for the project while performing level-3, level-4 online public services related to the functions of the People's Public Security Forces
