General To Lam, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, chaired the event.
The online meeting also saw the presence of other MPS leaders as well as representatives of various under-ministerial agencies and the police of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
A report delivered by Lieutenant General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS Office read that, amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public security agencies and units firmly grasped the pandemic situation and promptly advised their upper levels on appropriate policies and measures to safeguard national security, maintain social order and safety as well as to prevent and control the COVID-19.
Additionally, the MPS launched a special emulation movement themed "People's Public Security Forces serve as a shield to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic and a sharp sword to maintain security and social safety" with the motto " Million hearts, one will - Public security soldiers with firm political will and determination to wipe out the COVID-19 pandemic".
The MPS also established an Interim Frontline Command based in Ho Chi Minh City and deployed thousands of policemen, medical workers to the front lines of the fight against the pandemic in Southern provinces and cities. The PSF also launched and connected applications on management of people’s travelling into and out of COVID-affected areas as well as on management of COVID vaccination data with the National Population Database, contributing to controlling the pandemic while facilitating travelling of people and vehicles through COVID-19 checkpoints.
Overview of the event.
Over the past month, the rate of crimes related to social order has decreased sharply. Particularly, the police forces nationwide have investigated 2,563 cases and arrested 4,982 people involved. They also solved 395 cases of gambling with 1,923 related people.
Moreover, the PSF strictly handled people who spread fake and false information about the COVID-19 on the cyberspace while intensifying the fight against smuggling and commercial frauds causing market instability during the pandemic.
To conclude the meeting, Minister To Lam praised the efforts and achievements of all public security officers and soldiers over the past time.
Minister To Lam requested that all public security agencies and police departments across the country should actively forecast the security situation so as to promptly propose appropriate approaches to protect national security, maintain order and social safety.
He also asked the PSF to safeguard key establishments and projects, important political, cultural, and social events of the country, especially the upcoming National Day (September 2). The PSF should also advise the Party committees and authorities at all levels to support needy and unemployed people due to the pandemic.
