Public Security Forces asked to take preventive measures against COVID-19 in new situation

PSNews - Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security urged all public security units to provide sufficient medical supplies and ensure safety for officers and soldiers working on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Ministry of Public Security’s Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control chaired a video meeting on August 9 in Hanoi connecting with police departments of provinces and municipalities across the country on prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming time.

A report by Senior Colonel Pham Thi Lan Anh, Director of the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Health read that the pandemic situation is deteriorating in the world.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health,the second outbreak of COVID-19 in Vietnam is complicated. Most of the COVID-19 patients have their family bonds or contracted the virus in gatherings and public places such as celebrations, weddings, bus stations, schools, companies, and medical facilities.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son requested all public security units and agencies to seriously follow directions of the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. 

Meanwhile, the units and agencies should provide sufficient medical supplies and ensure safety for public security officers and soldiers working on the frontlines of the fight against the disease.

Public security hospitals and medical facilities of detention centers should take the strictest approaches to prevent the spread of the disease among patients and prisoners. The public security academies and schools should enhance disease prevention and control at their facilities. Public security agencies and units should actively develop plans to turn their guest houses and barracks into quarantine zones on request.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister asked the Ministry of Public Security’s Immigration Department to review and strictly control illegal entry into and exit from Vietnam. The local police forces should quickly investigate and strictly handle organizations and individuals that spread false information about the pandemic or produce and trade fake and poor-quality anti-pandemic medical stuffs.

The Public Security Forces should also proactively coordinate with press and media agencies inside and outside the forces to promptly popularize the efforts and contributions of the forces in prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
