In May, the Public Security Forces effectively implemented the directives of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government on maintaining security and social order, thus contributing to recovering socio-economic development.

Notably, the Public Security Forces safeguarded the 5th Plenum of the 13th-tenure Party Central Committee and activities within the framework of the 31st SEA Games.

During the month, the nationwide police force successfully investigated some 3,000 cases of social offences, arrested 6,001 involved people, dismantled 38 criminal groups, handled 412 gambling cases and arrested 2,131 illegal gamblers.

Regarding the fight against narcotics, the police nationwide cleared more than 1,900 cases, caught 3,043 drug traffickers, and seized 50.25kg of heroin, 150.88kg, 221,777 synthetic drug pills, 21.52kg of marijuana.

The traffic police strengthened patrols during May to ensure traffic safety while strictly handling traffic violations that are the direct causes of traffic accidents. Particularly, they have fined 252,000 cases of traffic safety violations more than VND 338 billion and impounded 50,644 violating vehicles.

The Public Security Forces have also completed and provided 189 online public services at levels 3 and 4 at the National Public Service Portal.

Under-ministerial public security agencies and local police departments paid due attention to three services in May, namely issuing ordinary passports, granting personal electronic identification numbers to school students so they could register their graduation exams online, and transferring the motorbike registration service to commune-level police posts.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the MPS leadership, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To praised the achievements that the Public Security Forces made in the past month.

Regarding some key tasks of the forces in June, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To asked the whole Public Security Forces to focus on fulfilling the missions assigned to them by the Party Central Committee and the Government as well as the MPS working program for the second quarter of 2022. 

All public security agencies and units were asked to ensure absolute security and safety for the upcoming 3rd session of the 15th-tenure National Assembly, activities of Party, State leaders and international delegations visiting Vietnam.

Involved under-ministerial public security agencies and local police departments should speed up the investigation of criminal cases under the direction and supervision of the Central Steering Committee for prevention of corruption and wrongdoings at work while resolutely attacking criminals to reduce the crime rate by 5% as planned and effectively fighting crime and drugs trafficking at tourist spots and on key traffic routes.

Regarding the Government’s Project 06, the Deputy Minister asked the public security agencies to early complete and put in operation as many as 227 level-3 and -4 public services on the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security, of which 11 are essential public services provided by the Public Security Forces.
