Public Security Forces review task performance in October 2020

PSNews - General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, chaired a meeting on October 30 to review the task performance of the Public Security Forces in October 2020 and roll out a working plan for the next month.

Reports at the meeting read that, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has equipped local police forces with more than 10,000 vehicles and equipment to conduct natural disaster response and rescue missions during the storms, floods, and landslides in the Central region.

Additionally, the PSF have coordinate with the military forces and local authorities to rescue and search for victims in severe landslides at Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant (Thua Thien Hue province), at the base of Division 337 (Quang Tri province), and in the two communes of Tra Leng and Tra Van (Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province).

After the floods, local police officers and soldiers helped the local authorities and people overcome the flooding aftermath, especially cleaning up schools, hospitals and repairing houses seriously damaged by natural disasters.

In addition, the PSF have safeguarded the congresses of Party organizations under the Party Central Committee and other important political, cultural, and social events across the country, including in the disaster-affected localities.

In October 2020, the Public Security Party organization successfully organized its 7th Party Congress for the 2020 – 2025 term.

During the month, the PSF investigated more than 3,000 cases of social order-related crimes and arrested nearly 6,000 related people. They also destroyed 138 criminal groups. Furthermore, the forces detected 1,775 cases of drug-related crimes with 2,799 people involved as well as 289 cases of violations against regulations on the use and storage of weapons, explosives and combat gears with 459 people involved and many exhibits seized. The local police forces mobilized people to surrender more than 2,000 guns of all kinds, more than 8,000 bullets to the authorities. The rate of social order-related cases in October reduced 6.7% compared to September 2020.

To conclude the meeting, Minister To Lam recognized and praised the efforts to overcome all difficulties and successfully complete the assigned tasks of all public security units and agencies over the past month. 

The Minister asked all public security units and agencies to effectively coordinate with the functional forces, strictly follow the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister on natural disaster response and relief.

The PSF should attach importance to protecting security and absolute safety for the 37th ASEAN Summit, the 90th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the 10th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, the 10th Session of the 14th National Assembly and other important events.

At the same time, they should speed up the implementation of the National Database on Population project while strengthening State management over residence and conditional business lines.
