Public Security Forces stamp out many criminal groups labeled with businesses

PSNews – In 2016, the Public Security Forces have stamped out many criminal bands that operated under the cover of businesses, which badly affected the competitiveness environment and operations of other enterprises.

Speaking at a teleconference between the Government and localities on December 29, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security briefed the participants on the results of the Public Security work, serving economic-social development.

According to Minister To Lam, in the last years, the Ministry of Public Security has advised the Government on issuing many guidelines and policies, contributing to ensuring security and order and creating a favorable environment for the development of businesses.

Thanks to the sound advice of the Public Security Forces, to the country has attracted a good deal of foreign investment while ensuring national security interests in negotiating and signing trade agreements with foreign partners.

The forces have discovered a number of loopholes and weaknesses of State-run economic groups and corporations as well as commercial banks, and then proposed the Government to direct the relevant ministries to review, restructure state-owned enterprises and banks, contributing to creating a healthy banking and financial system.

According to Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, the Public Security Forces have also well combated commercial frauds, contributing to building a healthy market, and handled tax evasions, increasing State budget revenues.

At the conference, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam revealed that the Ministry has proposed the Politburo to issue a directive on economic security, aiming to avoid diversion of economic developments. Accordingly, the directive will be deployed in the near future.

Regarding the fight against crimes in 2016, the Minister of Public Security said, the Public Security Forces have stamped out 1,990 criminal rings, including many groups that operated under the cover of businesses, badly affecting the competitiveness environment and business activities of other enterprises.

The police force has also dealt with nearly 16,800 violations and wrongdoings related to economic management; 224 corruption cases; 3,319 cases of smugglings and trade frauds and 17,622 environmental violations so far this year.

Regarding administrative reform, the Ministry of Public Security has created more favorable conditions for people and businesses. Accordingly, the ministry has removed 25 administrative procedures and simplified 193 others, particularly the time of granting a passport shortened from 15 days to eight, and the visa issuance for a foreign investor in Vietnam increased from 1 year to 5 years, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam said.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam also proposed the Government to tighten the management of migrants, especially in industrial zones and big cities.
