Major General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security hosted a meeting, on the afternoon of September 29, in Hanoi, with a delegation of the Senate Standing Committee on Independent Organizations under the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand led by First Vice President of the Thai Senate General Singsuk Singpai.
Over the past years, on the basis of the agreements signed between the two governments, the relations between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant Thai agencies, such as the Royal Thai Police, the National Security Council and the Ministry of Justice, have thrived in focused fields, contributing to deepening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides regularly maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms and support each other in multilateral forums while strengthening cooperation in areas such as information exchange, countering transnational crimes, especially illicit drug trafficking, economic crime, hi-tech crime, as well as mutual assistance in verifying and arresting wanted fugitives.
In order to further promote the cooperation and relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the two sides should actively provide mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, enhance exchange information, and support each other in investigating and handling corruption and economic cases in the coming time, so as to create a safe and healthy investment and business environment in each country and ensure safety for citizens of one country to live, study and work in another country.
For his part, General Singsuk Singpai spoke highly of the reliable and good political relationship between Thailand and Vietnam, saying that the bilateral relationship is constantly developing and expanding in many aspects.
He pledged that he will contribute more to strengthening the Thailand-Vietnam strategic partnership in general, and cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Thailand and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular, for the sake of peace and stability in the region and for the interests of the two countries.
