Can Tho police help locals respond to high tides

PSNews - The recent high tides have inundated many areas and terribly affected lives of people in Can Tho City. Against this backdrop, the police forces of Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang Districts (Can Tho City) were deployed to main traffic routes to guide traffic flows and help people through waterlogged areas.

According to the Can Tho Municipal Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, over the past few days, the tidal level in local rivers and canals have exceed the record high of 0.08 m, causing floods in the inner city of Can Tho.

The high tides have terrible affected lives of local people, traffic as well as production and business activities.

Although tides often last for 2 hours, but the natural phenomenon happens at the morning and afternoon rush hours, this makes people so difficult to travel. Thus, traffic congestions are often seen at some main intersections.

Over the past days, under the guidance of the Directorate of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department, the police stations of Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang Districts deployed their force to the flooded areas to support the locals.

The traffic police teams were at main traffic routes to guide traffic flows and help people and transports through waterlogged areas.

The effective support of local police was highly valued by the locals. Many people have posted photos and shared their thoughts of police officers guiding traffic flows and helping people on social networks, and considered as a way to convey thanks to the police forces.

At some dyke sections in Con Khuong, Con Son along the Hau River, rescue teams of the Can Tho Municipal Police have been joining local people over the past several days in reinforcing the dykes and watching important dyke sections.
