CAND Newspaper brings warm Tet to border people

PSNews – A mission of the Public Security Newspaper (CAND Newspaper) in collaboration with the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on January 8 visited and presented Tet gifts to needy people in Ban Lang Commune, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province.

Ban Lang border commune, which is 45kilometers from Lai Chau City, is home to nearly 1,700 households with more than 8,800 people, most of whom are of ethnic minority groups such as Dao, Thai, Giay.

They still face many difficulties in life as they mainly depend on animal breeding and agricultural cultivation. The commune has 600 poor families, accounting for 40% of the commune’s total population.

During the trip, the mission presented 200 packs of gifts, each worth of 500,000 VND to local families in need.

Although the gifts were not very valuable, but they demonstrated the sentiments and empathy of the CAND Newspaper and BIDV for local people. The newspaper and donor hoped that the gifts could bring a warmer Tet to border people.

According to Colonel Tran Duy Hien, Head of the Online Division of CAND Newspaper, leader of the mission, the newspaper has a long-standing tradition of conducting social activities toward disadvantaged people when the New Year comes. The CAND Newspaper also becomes a bridge connecting kind donors with poor people throughout the country.

In 2019, CAND Newspaper and donors offered about 15 billion VND to poor people, and people affected by natural disasters.

Within the program, the mission of the CAND Newspaper also presented 10 million VND from the Newspaper’s Social Fund to needy police officers and soldiers in Phong Tho District.
