CAND Newspaper renders support for flood victims in Tram Tau

PSNews – A charitable mission of the CAND Newspaper led by its Editor-in-Chief Major General Pham Van Mien in collaboration with Agribank and the Yen Bai Provincial Police recently visited, inquired after and presented 50 million VND to victims of the recent flooding in Hat Luu and Xa Ho communes, Tram Tau district.

Tram Tau is the most severely damaged district of Yen Bai province during the recent floods. At present, the road leading to the district, which had been broken off by floods, has been repaired but there is still a large quantity of stones piled up on the sides of the road.

Hat Luu is the most affected commune with 8 people either dead or missing, 6 injured, 11 houses totally swept away by the floods, and 48 hectares of rice fields damaged.

The mission visited Lo Van Lap, aged 25, resident of Hat 2 village, who was recently discharged from hospital after being hit in his thigh by a sharp bough while struggling in the flooding. His home and daughter was swept away by the floodwater. He and his wife are temporally staying in his parents' house.

The charitable mission also visited and inquired after Mr. Lo Van Muoi, the only survivor of the historic flood in his family. Other members in the family went missing during the flooding. This is the most tragic family in Tram Tau district caused by the recent floods.

Another victim of the flash floods is Sung Thi Bau, a 19 year-old mother of two children. Her husband, Vang A Po, was unfortunately swept away by the floods when working in the field. The family has now become helpless after her husband has passed away. She burst into tears when receiving supports from the charitable mission.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Deputy Director of the Agribank branch in Yen Bai province said: "Having learnt that people in the province are suffering a lot from recent floods, each staff of our branch has donated the pay for one working day to the victims and the proceeds totaled 100 million VND. The support for the flood victims comes from our hearts and we hope it would ease their difficulties."

Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of CAND Newspaper expressed hope that the gifts from police officers and soldiers and Argibank staff would help them recover their lives and production soon.
