CAND Newspaper supports flood-hit victims in Khanh Hoa

PSNews - A charitable mission of the Public Security Newspaper (CAND Newspaper) in November together with donors arrived in Khanh Hoa and handed 400 packs of gifts with a total value of 155 million VND to affected local households in the recent floods.

Ninh Hoa town is one of the most affected areas in the recent typhoon. On the way to Ninh Xuan commune, Ninh Hoa town, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Sang, Deputy Head of the Ninh Hoa Town Police said: "The 12th typhoon caused severe damages to Ninh Hoa town, with 17 dead, 58 injured, 835 house collapsed, 4,792 houses unroofed,  nearly 13,500 hectares of rice and other crops damaged, 23,600 meters of roads and canals destroyed, 465 fishing boats damaged by waves, 754 hectares of shrimp and fish farms and hundreds of aquaculture floating cages washed away. The total damage is estimated at nearly 400 million VND."

In Ninh Xuan commune, the charitable mission handed over 150 packs of gifts to flood victims, including many elderly. Mrs. Tran Thi Ngoc An (aged 68, residing at Tan My ward) said: "One piece of food while hungry equals a big box of food while being full." The gifts from the CAND Newspaper and donors warm our hearts."

The mission also visited Hon San hill in Thuan My ward, Ninh Quang commune, where 25 houses were badly damaged by the typhoon. The CAND Newspaper and Ninh Hoa town police along with 2 local charitable groups offered each household with their collapsed homes 2 million VND and donated 56 boxes of instant noodles and presented 200,000 VND to other victims.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa on behalf of the victims in Hon San hill extended her sincere thanks to the significant supports from the CAND Newspaper and donors.

The charitable mission left Ninh Hoa town late at night with the hope that there will not be such destructive storms and floods in the locality and the local victims will receive more supports from kind donors to relieve their sufferings and help them restore their life and production soon.

Earlier on November 7 and 8, the charitable mission of the CAND Newspaper had visited and presented 100 million VND to victims in Ninh Hoa town, Van Ninh district (Khanh Hoa province) and Dong Hoa district (Phu Yen province).
