Ha Tinh police break down large gambling ring

PSNews – The Criminal Police Division under the Ha Tinh Provincial Police Department has broken down a large illegal online football betting ring with a total bet of 10,000 billion VND.

According to the investigation agency, Nguyen Huy Hoang (born in 1997, residing at Cam Binh Commune, Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh Province) provided accounts to some subjects in Cam Xuan District, Ha Tinh City and Huong Khe District to gamble online.

The Ha Tinh Criminal Police Division discovered a supreme master first class account managed by two subjects who were also running illegal football betting activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Those two set up a number of sub-accounts and hired people in other localities to use the accounts to run illegal gambling activities on websites b88ag.com, bong88.com and cuocbanh88.com.

On August 3, the specialized team of the Ha Tinh police in collaboration with the Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security and the police forces of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Thua Thien Hue and Ninh Binh Provinces simultaneously launched raids and arrested 12 leaders of the network.

The Ha Tinh police detected that the chief leader of the gambling ring was Tran Cong Khanh (as known as Tu Hen), born in 1981 and residing in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

The specialized working team also searched the resident places of these suspects and seized 3 cars, nearly 800 million VND in cash, 19 cell phones, 5 wifi modems, 4 laptops, 3 desktops, 30 ATM cards, 20,000 pages of documents and some other exhibits.

The initial investigation results show that this is a huge illegal online football betting network, covering many localities including Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City.

This gambling ring has run the network for 3 years with nearly 1,000 active accounts. The total betting in July 2020 was 1,000 billion VND.
