Hai Phong Police support victims of flood in Thanh Hoa

PSNews - The charitable mission of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department has held the program "Winter Volunteerism" in support of people and students in the flood-stricken areas in Quang Son Distirct, Thanh Hoa Province.

In implementing the plan to mobilize social and mass organizations to carry out charitable activities, the Logistics Division of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department in collaboration with the Trade Union chapter, the Women Union chapter and the Youth Union chapter of the city’s police and the Hai Phong Municipal Police Hospital launched a fundraising and the program "Winter Volunteerism" to present gifts and offer free health check-ups and medicines to people and students in the flood-stricken areas in Quang Son Distirct, Thanh Hoa Province.

Within the framework of the program, the charitable mission led by Colonel Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen, Deputy Head of the Logistics Division of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department on October 13 and 14 in collaboration with the People's Committee and the Police Station of Quan Son District also visited Nhai village, Son Dien Commune, Quang Son District.

Son Dien is a mountainous commune bordering Laos with a population of nearly 5,000 people living on an area of approximately 10,000 hectares. Most of the residents of Son Dien  are of the Thai, Kinh and Muong ethnic minorities, who rely mainly on agriculture and forestry; they still face various difficulties in life and some households do not even have enough food all year round. The recent floods in Son Dien Commune have caused heavy losses to local people.

At Son Dien Commune, the charitable mission handed over packs of gifts containing rice, cotton jackets, and necessities to local people. At Son Dien 2 Primary School, the mission presented 260 school jackets and learning equipment to the students and a water purifier to the school.

The charitable mission with doctors and nurses of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Hospital also provided free health check-ups and medicines to over 300 policy beneficiary people, elderly and children. All the cost of the program, worth 130 million VND, was donated by police officers and soldiers of the Logistic Division of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department and other participating units.

On behalf of the local residents, Mr. Luc Hai Van, Chairman of the Communal People's Committee extended his thanks to the Hai Phong Municipal Police  in general and the charitable mission in particular for their empathy and support for needy local people and students. Their support was a great source of encouragement for local people to overcome difficulties to live a better life.
