MPS reviews task performance in May and rolls out working plan for June

PSNews – Minister of Public Security To Lam urged all public security agencies and units to actively grasp the situation, and effectively implement their working plans to ensure security and order in key routes and areas.

The Ministry of Public Security on June 8 held a conference to review its task performance in May and roll out a new working plan for June. Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee, Minister of Public Security chaired the event.

In May, the public security agencies and units have strictly followed and effectively implemented the directions of the Party, the State and leaders of the Public Security, actively struggled against any conspiracy and activities of hostile and reactionary forces, effectively tackled social security issues, and ensured absolute safety and security for national political and social events as well as all official visits to foreign countries of leaders of the Party and the State.

In crime prevention and fighting, local police units enhanced dissemination of laws as well as receive and handle crime reports from people while intensifying professional measures and deploying forces to attack and stamp out organized crimes related to “black credit”, child abuse, and criminal gangs with weapons and explosive materials.

Within the month, the whole police force investigated 3,090 criminal cases, arrested and handled  6,167 offenders of all kinds, cracked down on 187 criminal gangs; handled 696 gambling cases with 3,034 related suspects arrested; caught 365 most wanted fugitives; brought to light 2,198 drug-related cases with 3,057 suspects and 178.97 kg of heroin, 120.16 kg and 59,592 tablets of synthetic drugs seized.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam praised the great efforts of all public security agencies and units to overcome difficulties and successfully complete the tasks last month.

Regarding the missions for June, Minister To Lam urged all public security agencies and units to promote the results gained in May and continue to effectively implement guidelines and policies of the Central Party Committee, the National Assembly, the Government as well as directions of leaders of the MPS while actively grasping the situation, and well implementing their working plans to ensure security and order in key routes and areas, and resolve complex security issues on time.

The Security Force should continue to successfully prevent and fight any conspiracies and activities of hostile and reactionary forces, promote coordination in information management and dissemination on fighting distorted views with aiming to undermine the policies and directions of the Party and the State.

Minister Lam also asked the police force to intensify professional measures to attack and stamp out organized crimes, criminal gangs with weapons and explosive materials, drug-related crimes, economic crimes, corruption, hi-tech crime, environmental crimes and child abuse.

The Minister urged the whole Public Security Forces to continue to implement Resolutions No.22 of the Politburo on renovating and streamlining the public security apparatus for more efficiency and effectiveness, promote ideological and political education for public security officers while enhancing the public security regulations within the forces.

Minister Lam also stressed the importance of coordination with the press and media agencies of and out of the ministry to contribute to security and order while encouraging and praising good examples in maintaining social security and order, and crime prevention and fight.

He asked the security force to timely detect and fight hostile forces’ distorted and false information, contributing to orienting the public opinion, creating social consensus, promoting the movement of “All people protecting national security”.

Meanwhile, all agencies and units should ensure sufficient logistic, technical and financial supports for the whole Public Security Forces to implement their tasks and participate in prevention and relief of natural disasters and epidemics.
