MPS to develop public security health network

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, chaired a meeting hosted by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to announce a decision by the Minister of Public Security on approving a project to develop the Public Security Health Network from now to 2030.

According to the decision, the People’s Public Security Health Network should be developed in couple with the newly-streamlined apparatus of the Public Security Forces from the Central level to local for more effectiveness and efficiency.

Particularly, medical facilities in the system should combine traditional medicine with modern medicine in their medical examination and treatment activities in accordance with the regulations of the MPS and the Ministry of Health. They should ensure that at least 3-5 doctors take care of the health for every 100 public security officers.

Regarding its task performance in the past six months, the public security health sector has advised the Ministry to support the Public Security Forces-made medical masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and anti-epidemic costumes for eight foreign partners of the MPS to help them prevent and control the disease.

Over the first half, first-class public security hospitals have offered medical checkups for 406,194 patients, including 63,341 public security officers while successfully treated diseases for 50,418 patients, including 14,546 public security officers.

The bed occupancy rate at those hospitals reached 76.4%. Meanwhile, medical clinics and infirmaries at local police departments have received and treated 65,462 patients with 36,004 policemen.

So far, 62/63 provincial police medical facilities were licensed by the health authority to conduct medical treatment.

For their achievements, 12 teams of the public security health sector were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister and other 17 teams received Certificates of Merit for their contributions to the COVID-19 pandemic prevention.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son spoke highly of the achievements and contributions of the public security health sector over the past time.

Deputy Minister Son asked the public security units and agencies across the country, based on their assignments and functions, to popularize the significance of the project to their officers and soldiers as well as effectively support the public security health sector to implement the project as planned.
