The mission handed over 100 packs of gifts to needy households in the 3 communes of Xa Phien, Luong Tam, Luong Nghia of Long My district, Hau Giang province. These gifts included confectionery, cooking oils and seasonings totally worth 50 million VND.

All the costs of the charitable trip and gifts were donated by Mr. Luu Quoc Cuong, working in Lap Quyen Electricity Company and Mr. Huynh Ngoc Minh Tuan, residing in Can Tho city through the CAND Newspaper Program “Tet for the poor 2018.”

Mr. Le Hoai Han – Secretary of the Xa Phien Communal Party’s Committee said that the commune has 1,200 poor families and nearly-poor families, and 300 beneficiary families, accounting for 30% of the commune’s total population. The failure of the winter-spring rice crop due to the climate change also caused many difficulties to local people. The supports from CAND Newspaper and kind donors would encourage the people to overcome their difficulties and contribute to promoting the socio-economic development.

On same day, a mission of the Department of Health under the Public Security General Department of Logistics and Techniques led by Major General Nguyen Khac Thuy, its Director in collaboration with the Ha Nam Provincial Police visited and presented gifts to beneficiary families in mountainous commune Thanh Luu, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province.

He said that this activity reflects the Vietnamese traditional philosophies “When drinking water, remember its sources” and “The good leaves cover the ripped ones”. Although the gifts are not much in value, but they demonstrated the sentiments and empathy of the leaders, the police officers and soldiers of the Health Department in the hope of bringing a warmer Tet to each family.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bac, Secretary of the Thanh Luu Communal People’s Committee extended his thanks  for the sentiments of Major General Nguyen Khach Thuy, Major General Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyen and the charitable mission.
