Nghe An Police maintains peaceful life in "heaven gate"

PSNews - After decades persistently conducting mass mobilization and law dissemination, and resolutely fighting drug crime, Nghe An police officers and local authorities have helped many people to change their lives.

Drug criminals on Pu Lom were very dangerous. They also changed their trading and living places from day to day. Such drug barons as Lo Van Tuan, Vi Van Panh and Lo Van Thoong turned many local youngsters into drug addicts, who then depended totally on them.

The "Heaven gate" Muong Long is located on the top of the highest mount in Nghe An, at 1,485m above the sea level. The area is home to  4,300 people residing in 13 villages. The area was once known as a drug hub. Over the past few years, the Nghe An provincial police force has taken drastic actions to turn this "purple poppy" place into the "green heaven" of crops and guided local people to new effective economic development models leaving drugs and drug-related evils behind.

First, they brought Tam Hoa seed plums and seedless peaches to Muong Long in 2000. Several years later, many other economic models were also applied, including Tuyet Shan tea, lily flower and hybrid maize on sloping terrains, animal breeding. High-value crops such as ginger and taro also cultivate on Muong Long land.

In order to maintain local safety, the police of Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Que Phong districts keep implementing effectively the policy "Going to the grassroots, attached to the localities". District police leaders often urge police officers and soldiers to rely on the people while performing their tasks.

Besides the fierce battle against drug trafficking, the local police also promptly advised district leaders and higher-level leaders on effective approaches to resolve local people's complaints and build up people’s trust in the police force. Task-force teams have been assigned to manage specific areas and routes. They have also signed emulating agreements in obtaining achievements and reaching the set objectives.
