Nghe An Police successfully stamps out large fake academic certificate making rings

PSNews – The Nghe An Investigation Police has discovered and seized nearly 300 imitation seals of State agencies, organizations, businesses, along with hundreds of fake academic certificates and academic transcripts of many universities, colleges and high schools.

In the beginning of 2018, the Security-Investigation Division under the Nghe An Provincial Police detected a large fake academic certificate ring with sophisticated and diverse tricks led by Nguyen Thi Huong (aged 64), residing in Ha Huy Tap ward, Vinh city, Nghe An province.

After a long period secretly following the suspects, on April 27 at the Kim Dong street, Hung Binh ward, Vinh city, local investigation officers caught in red suspect Nguyen Thi Huong when she was handing over fake academic certificates and other documents to Nguyen Duc Tuan (aged 72, residing at Hung Binh ward, Vinh city).

The investigation agency conducted an urgent search of the residence and workplace of suspect Nguyen Thi Huong, and seized 283 imitation seals of State agencies, organizations, businesses, schools (including imitation seals of the Security-Investigation Agency, Vinh Municipal Police, and Nghi Loc District Police), 3 laptops, 2 color scanners, 1 photocopier and many other documents and exhibits related to their fake academic certificate making process.

At the local investigation agency, Nguyen Thi Huong admitted that she was the one who directly made the imitation certificates and sold them to needy people at prices of 300,000 VND - 800,000 VND.

In 2016, she was arrested by the Nghe An Provincial Police and charged with "Imitating seals and documents of States agencies and organizations" and was sentenced to 2 years’ probation. After her sentences expired, Nguyen Thi Huong again committed the same offense.

The Security-Investigation Agency has prosecuted the case, and accused Nguyen Thi Huong and Tran Dang Khuong( age 35, Nguyen Thi Huong's son) of "Imitating seals and documents of States agencies and organizations", while further expanding the investigation into the case.

On May 8, Senior Colonel Nguyen Tien Dan, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police visited and presented flowers of congratulation and encouragement to the team responsible for the specialized case.
