People’s Armed Police School celebrates its 40th anniversary

PSNews – The People’s Armed Police School (PAPS) on November 9 held a ceremony to mark its 40th Traditional Day anniversary (November 11th 1977-2017) and opened the new academic year 2017-2018.

Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event.

40 years ago, on November 11th 1977, the Minister of Public Security signed Decision No. 29-NV/QD to found a low-level guard police officer training school and to define its functions, missions, legal authority and organizational structure.  That school was the predecessor of today’s People’s Armed Police School.

The PAPS used to have other names, including People’s Guard Police School, People’s Guard Police College, People’s Public Security Commando School and People’s Public Security Special Force School.

Over the past 40 years, the PAPS has continuously developed, successfully fulfilled the assigned tasks and attained great achievements, significantly contributing to the cause of education and training as well as the cause of national security protection, social order and safety.

The PAPS has been awarded noble rewards by the Party, the State, the Central Party Committee of Public Security and Ministry of Public Security.

At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh handed over the First Class Fatherland Protection Order to the PAPS and pinned the insignia on its traditional flag.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh praised the efforts and achievements of the teachers, officers and students of the PAPS over the past years.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also beat the drum to open the new academic year 2017-2018 of the PAPS and plan trees in the school campus.
