He revealed that, in the first 6 months of 2017, PSN closely followed and strictly implemented directions of leaders of the Public Security Ministry, the General Department of Politics and the Central Commission on Communications and Education, and successfully fulfilled all assignments as planned.

Over the past 6 months, PSN has focused on popularizing resolutions and directives of the Party and the State, especially Resolution 4 of the 12th Party Central Committee on enhancing Party building and reorganization; preventing degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle of Party members, as well as rolling back manifestations of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” inside the Party.

At the same time, the newspaper has effectively disseminated Directive No.05 of Politburo on studying and following the thought, morals and style of President Ho Chi Minh as well as the movement "Building image of the brave and humane police officer in the people’s heart".

On one hand, PSN promptly reported important events of the country in politics, culture, economy and society; on the other hand, ithad a number of articles with strong arguments criticizing wrong views and revealing the reactionary nature of hostile forces as well as struggling against the “peaceful evolution” strategy, to reaffirm the absolute leadership role of the Party.

Besides, officers, soldiers and reporters of PSN often sought new and interesting topics for their articles, and popularized many typical models, effective concepts within and outside of the public security forces. As a result, a number of reporters of PSN won various press awards, including the National Press Award.

Regarding charitable activities, in the first 6 months of 2017, PSN in collaboration with many donors, enterprises donated over VND 15.3 billion to the building of gratitude houses and cultural houses, to supporting flood-stricken victims, injured police officers, and presenting scholarships to needy students and gifts to poor families across the country.

In a spirit of straightforwardness and truthfulness, delegates assessed the current situation and pointed out shortcomings in performing its tasks at discussions chaired by Major General Pham Van Mien.

In order to achieve best results in the last 6 months (H2) of 2017, Major General Pham Van Mien assigned specific tasks to each branch, support section, professional office and individual.

He also instructed all officers, soldiers and reporters of PSN to continuously uphold the spirit of solidarity and keep learning so as to overcome all difficulties and challenges in the current period and successfully fulfill the newspaper’s political missions.

Major General Pham Van Mien also emphasized the important role and position of collaborators in the long-term development of PSN and asked relevant sections to expand the newspaper’s collaborator channels while taking good care of every reporter, worker and collaborator. This, according to Major General Mien, must be viewed as a key task in H2.

Currently, PSN should quickly complete documents for the opening of the newspaper’s online Chinese edition, and promote a self-study movement among reporters so that the newspaper’s reporters can be “excellent at one sphere but good at many.”
