Public Security Forces contribute greatly to ensuring safety for major events

PSNews – The Ministry of Public Security in February 21st held a meeting to review its task performance in February, and deploy tasks in March 2017. Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Minister of Public Security chaired the event. 

In February 2017, public security units and local police forces have closely followed the direction of the Ministry of Public Security leaders, well performing their advisory functions, coordinating with other agencies and forces to ensure social security and order, especially during the festive season, responding on time to arising problems and effectively controlling crimes, contributing to socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the country.

Public security unit and local police have protected internal political security as well as culture, network, information and communication security and security in strategic areas while actively cooperating with relevant ministries and branches in combating distorted and false information spread by hostile forces to attack the nation in the ideological front.

In terms of prevention of crime related to social order, local police units continued deploying aggressive plans to attack, suppress and arrest criminals, contributing to reducing the number of rimes during the Tet Holiday 2017.

Meanwhile, the traffic police force has implemented various plans to guide traffic and limit congestion on main routes and festival areas.

Regarding the work of Party building, following the guidelines of the Minister of Public Security at the first briefing of 2017, local police and units have strictly implemented leaders’ commands; Public Security press agencies had many articles and reports, highlighting good models and examples in movements, and efforts of public securities forces to protect lives and property of people during the Tet holiday and post-Tet festivals season.

At the event, 12 organizations from public security units and localities have been honored for their outstand achievements.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam required public security agencies, units and local police forces to promote achieved results, continue to implement the central task of the first quarter-2017 plan; ensure absolute safety for main national projects and political, cultural and social events and activities of Party, State leaders, international delegations, international conferences to be held in Vietnam; and prepare carefully to ensure absolute security and safety of APEC 2017.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam also stressed that the entire public security forces have to firmly grasp the world and regional situation, to analyze happenings and situations thoroughly and to give good advice to the Party, State on national security guidelines and measures; actively prevent, detect and fight sabotage activities of hostile forces; and support local authorities in effectively resolving complicated issues on security and order.

The Minister of Public Security also noted that the whole force needs to strengthen personnel management, ideological and political education and regulations of discipline, style and thought in accordance with the Resolution of the 4th Meeting of the Party Central Committee (term 12) as well as Instructions No.55-QD/TW issued on December 19th, 2016 by the Politburo on urgent works to strengthen the exemplary role of cadres and Party members. Public security agencies, units and local police at all levels should frequently organize political education drives in line with the movement “Learning and following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, moral and style” under the spirit of Directive No.05 of the Politburo and improve responsibilities of commanders of agencies and units at all levels.

Public Security news and press agencies were required to continue coordinating with public security agencies, units and local police headquarters at all levels to strengthen information dissemination and communication work, orientate public views toward the correct information and fight distorted information and attempts of reactionaries and hostile forces while actively promoting the "All people protecting National security" movement and ensuring smooth information flows.
