The event, which was hosted by DEA Far East Regional Office, drew the participation of 80 delegates from 13 countries, namely Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Japan, Republic of Korea and the US.
This year’s conference focused on 4 main topics: effective management of chemical precursors to avoid using chemical precursor to produce synthetic drugs; the fight against transnational organized crime; prevention and combat of money laundering from drug trafficking; and the fight against organized criminal rings in Mexico.
Speaking at the conference, Major General Nguyen Van Vien briefed other delegates on the situation and results of drug prevention and control in Vietnam, as well as called for international cooperation in fighting illict drug trafficking in the coming time.
On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese delegation also met and exchanged information with the delegations from Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, Australia and the US.
