Vietnamese Minister of Public Security meets incoming Angolan and Saudi Arabian Ambassadors

PSNews - General To Lam, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security, on February 21 received Mr. Agostinho Andre de Carvalho Fernandes and Mr. Saud F.M. Alsuwelim, who have just been appointed as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Angola and Saudi Arabia to Vietnam. 

* General To Lam on February 21 hosted a reception for Mr. Agostinho Andre de Carvalho Fernandes, incoming Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola in Vietnam.

At the reception, Minister To Lam welcomed the newly-accredited Angolan ambassador and wished him success in his term of office in Vietnam. He also hoped that the ambassador will promote the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries as well as cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Angolan counterparts in areas of mutual interest.

He then asked the Angolan ambassador to support Vietnam when the country serves as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2020-2021, and Chair of ASEAN in 2020. 

The host also suggested that the two sides promote cooperation in non-traditional security fields and enhance sharing of information about crimes as well as increase exchange of delegations at all levels and boost educational and training cooperation. The two sides should also coordinate in ensuring security and safety and creating favorable conditions for people of one country living, working or studying in the other.,.

Angolan Ambassador Agostinho Andre de Carvalho Fernandes thanked General To Lam for his warm reception and stressed that the cooperation between the two countries has been promoting and developing positively. He believed that functional agencies of Angola would continue their cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in all aspects for mutual interests of the two peoples.

*On same day, General To Lam received Mr.  Saud F.M. Al Suwelim Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia.

Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Saud F.M. Al Suwelim on his new term of office in Vietnam and hoped that the ambassador will contribute to further promoting the cooperation between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia in the coming time. He also stressed that, Vietnam always considers Saudi Arabia as one of the most important partners in the Middle East.

Minister To Lam also extended his thanks to the Government of Saudi Arabia for supporting Vietnam in running for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2020-2021, hoping that Saudi Arabia would continue backing Vietnam so that it can fulfill the tasks entrusted by the international community.

The host then suggested that the two sides should maintain the Joint Committee mechanism in order to enhance the implementation of the signed deals while promoting negotiations to sign other deals to create a legal corridor for the two countries strengthen their bilateral relations as well as for the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Saudi Arabia partners to expand their cooperation.

He also suggested increasing exchange of delegations, sharing of information about transnational crimes, hi-tech crimes, drug-related crimes, and human trafficking, as well as coordinating to ensure absolute safety and security for high-ranking officials of one country visiting the other and for representative missions, citizens of each country working, living and studying in the other.

For his part, Ambassador Saud F.M. Al Suwelim thanked Minister To Lam for the warm reception. He hoped that the relations and cooperation between the two countries will be further developed, especially in the field of national security protection, and crime prevention and fight.

He also vowed to further promote cooperation between agencies of the two countries to in the framework of the signed deals.

On this occasion, the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department handed over 145 million VND and 300 Riyal to the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Vietnam. This amount of money will then returned to two Saudi Arabia citizens who were to victims of an illegal appropriation in the locality.
