CAND Newspaper and donor present Tet gifts to mountainous people in Dien Bien

PSNews - A social charitable mission of the Public Security Newspaper (CAND Newspaper) together with the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department and the Phoenix International Tourism Company on January 16 visited and presented gifts to needy people in Thanh Chan and Ma Thi Ho communes, Muong Cha District, Dien Bien Province.

As early as 5am on January 16, the mission left Dien Bien City to come to Ma Thi Ho. After an 80-km craggy road, the mission finally arrived at Ma Thi Ho commune.

Ma Thi Ho is a border commune of Muong Cha District. 100% population of the commune is the H'mong ethnicity. It has 810 poor households, account for 62%. The local people live mainly on agricultural production, particularly rice cultivation and animal husbandry.

In Ma Thi Ho commune, representatives of the CAND Newspaper and Phoenix Company handed over 50 packs of Tet gifts to 50 policy beneficiaries and needy households in locality.

Ms. Ho Thi Cu, a resident of Ho Chuong 2 village, Ma Thi Ho commune said that: "Every year, our 5-members family only has 20 bags of rice to eat and it is never enough. Besides rice cultivation, my husband and I always have to work as amateur masons but we are still very poor. We thank the CAND Newspaper and donor for the Tet gift."

During the charitable trip, the mission also visited and presented gifts to needy people in Thanh Chan commune, Dien Bien District. The mission was joined by Senior Colonel Lo Van Khut, Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department.

In Thanh Chan commune, Senior Colonel Pham Quang Khai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper, Senior Colonel Lo Van Khut and representatives of the local authority presented 50 packs of Tet gifts to 50 needy families residing in Thanh Chan commune.

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Mr. Lo Duc Vuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chan commune extended his thanks to the CAND Newspaper and Phoenix Company for the practical supports. He believed that the gift would be source of encouragement helping local people as well as the authority to make more effort to improve their lives.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Pham Quang Khai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the CAND Newspaper, head of the charitable mission said that, for many years, the CAND Newspaper has always paid special attention to the social charitable work. The newspaper together with kind donors often visit and present gifts to victims of natural disasters such as floods and landslides.

Especially when the spring comes, the CAND Newspaper's charitable missions come to every parts of the country to hand over meaningful gifts to needy people and policy beneficiary families.

"Although the Tet gifts of CAND Newspaper and Phoenix Company are not very significant in value but we hope that they will help local people to buy some necessities for the celebration of the upcoming Tet," Senior Colonel Pham Quang Khai said.
