Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam visits and presents gifts to flood victims in central provinces

PSNews – A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security led by its Deputy Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam on December 19 visited and presented gifts to Phu Yen and Binh Dinh provinces, joining the two province in overcoming consequences of the recent natural disasters.

The gifts came from the Fund “Compassion of Comrades” of the Public Security Forces with the aim of  relieving the sufferings of local people and soldiers in flooded areas of the two provinces.

Briefing the delegation on the consequences of the recent floods, Secretary of the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Yen Provincial People Council Huynh Tan Viet said the quick and powerful floods have left 8 dead, 6 injured while tens of thousands of houses were damaged and tens of thousands of hectares of rice, vegetables and shrimp farming cages were submerged in floodwater.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam handed 1 billion as emergency assistance to Phu Yen province overcoming difficulties to soon restore normal life and productions in the locality.

Mr. Huynh Tan Viet expressed deep thanks to the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security. He then praised the great effort of the Phu Yen Provincial Police in rescuing flood victims and helping people deal with flood.

At the meeting, Major General Phan Van Thanh, Director of the Phu Yen Provincial Police also briefed the delegation on its police task performance, and disaster relief and rescue operations in 2016.

Accordingly, the Phu Yen Provincial Police has mobilized nearly 1,130 of troops with many canoes and other function vehicles to evacuate thousands of local people and to assist people in critically flooded areas.

The two devastating floods have also damaged many facilities of the local police force.

Showing empathy with these large losses, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam also offered the Phu Yen Provincial Police 500 million VND, one canoe with an 100 CV power engine, two inflatable boats, and 200 rubber rings; and the Tuy An District Police 50 million VND.

He asked the Phu Yen Provincial Police to strive to maintain social order and safety, especial during the upcoming Tet holiday.

The Phu Yen Provincial Police was also urged to concentrate forces and means to help local people deal with the flooding consequences.

The same day, the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security also visited and handed 500 million VND to Binh Dinh province; 300 million VND to the Binh Dinh Provincial Police and 200 million VND to the Binh Dinh Provincial Fire Police.
