As a member of a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting Japan and attending the celebration of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations from December 15-18, Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung had separate meetings with local officials.
* At the meeting with Deputy Commander of the Japanese National Police Agency Ogata Yoshimi, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that the Japanese side continue exchanging delegations at all levels to seek more cooperation opportunities, step up negotiations to sign a memorandum of understanding on crime prevention and combat between the Ministry of Public Security and the Japanese National Police Agency in 2024 and an agreement on extradition, and closely coordinate in reducing the rate of Vietnamese people committing crimes in Japan.
* At the meeting with former Vietnam - Japan Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung requested former Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro to support Japan-funded projects on anti-crime equipment aid for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
He also expressed belief that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and relevant Japanese agencies in particular will continue to develop in practical and effective manner, contributing to maintaining political stability, social order and safety of each country.
* At the meeting with JICA leaders, the two sides discussed orientations for cooperation in the future. The Vietnamese deputy minister of public requested JICA to prioritize investment capital for the ongoing equipment projects for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, and expand other aid programs, hi-tech cooperation programs, as well as capacity building programs for Vietnamese communal-level police officers and fire and rescue police officers.
