Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam highlighted that 2021 will mark an important milestone in the Public Security Forces' administrative reform. Much paperwork will be replaced, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of state management and better serving the people.

According to the reports at the conference, the MPS has entered information of over 98 million citizens into the National Database on Population and are verifying all of the input data toissue identification numbers to all citizens in the time to come.

The police forces nationwide also received nearly 40 million applications for e-ID cards, or 79,4% of the set target of 50 million e-ID cards to be issued by July 2021.

The reports at the conference also pointed out difficulties and challenges faced by the police forces in implementing the projects over the past time, especially in the build-up to the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils for the 2021 - 2026 term.

Amidst the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, police forces of some provincewere asked to take drastic measures to halt the spread of the disease in the community and postpone the e-ID card issuance in pandemic-hit localities. Therefore, the police of other localities should pay more attention to both preventing the pandemic and realizing the assigned target of the e-ID card issuance project.

At the conference, representatives from various police departments gave their opinions on the implementation of the two projects and proposed solutions to successfully fulfill the set target.

Addressing the event, Minister To Lam summarized the lessons and experiences learnt from the implementation of the two projects in the past time, saying that leaders of agencies and units have heightened their sense of responsibility in directing their agencies and units to execute the two projects.

He also hailed the efforts of the local police officers and soldiers and the cooperation between the MPS's agencies and units in performing the assigned tasks.

In the time to come, the Minister asked the local-level police forces to make more efforts to fulfill their assigned tasks while promptly overcoming theshortcomings and problems in implementing the projects with the aim of issuing 50 million e-ID cards by July 2021. At the same time, the MPS leader emphasized that the forces should also pay due attention to COVID-19 prevention and control.
