Nam Dinh police steps up measures to control COVID-19

The Nam Dinh Provincial Police Department has actively drawn up plans to ensure local political security, social order and safety while taking various measures to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, contributing preventing the virus from spreading in the local community.

In order to enforce the Prime Minister's Directive 16, the Nam Dinh Provincial Police Department has set up four checkpoints on gateways to the province. The local police, in coordination with relevant authorities, worked around the clock at the checkpoints to measure body temperature of everyone entering the province and check their health declarations so as to control COVID-19 infection.

In addition, the Nam Dinh police have established various other checkpoints at busy traffic roads and crowded places, contributing to detecting and handling more 300 cases of violating regulations on quarantine and wearing facemasks in public areas amid COVID-19.

The local police also attached importance to disseminating local people about preventive measures against the disease in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 16 by distributing leaflets to them. They also increased patrols and checks to strictly handle violations of the directive in accordance with Law.

So far, the Nam Dinh provincial police handled five cases of spreading false information about the COVID-19 situation on social networks and fined five business establishments violating against the social distancing regulations.

From March 8, the Giao Thuy District Police Station checked on the names and places of 27 foreigners and 50 overseas Vietnamese returning from epidemic-hit areas so as to apply self-quarantine or concentrated quarantine measures to each case.

Thanks to timely and effective preventive measures taken by the local police and authority, the COVID-19 situation has been put under control in Nam Dinh province. So far, there are no reported cases of infection in the locality.
