The district police leadership recently sent 2 teams in rotation to issue ID cards to local people in mountainous communes. The police officers of the working teams had to work around the clock to accelerate the progress. They all promised to stop only when the work is done.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Hung, Head of the Administrative Police Team under the Xi Man District Police Station, said the police teams had to work until 3am in the next morning for several weeks. After completing the issuance of ID cards for people in one commune, they moved to another.
The local people also sympathized with the policemen, so they were orderly in line waiting for their turns.
Lieutenant Vang Van Thang said the fingerprinting was very difficult as most of the fingerprints of the local people, had unclear fingerprints since they had to work very hard with their hands. The police could only fingerprint 15 people per hour on average, said Thang.
The policemen of Ha Giang also arrived in Khuon Lung commune to issue ID cards. The local police made an appointment with each household beforehand to save time for ID card applicants.
