The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2022, an annual contest for book-lovers nationwide, drew the participation of some 1.3 million contestants. The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) received some 10,100 entries from 96 different units. The organizers chose 30 most outstanding entries for the national contest.

A team of authors from the Fire University won an A prize while other teams from various public security academies, universities and schools also received high prizes.

The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has drawn the participation of a large number of public security officers and soldiers in recent years, said a winner, Major Do Thu Thom, Vice Head of the Culture, Art and Library under the Department of Party and Political Affairs. The success of the contest has made a great contribution to developing the reading culture within the Public Security Forces.

The Public security Forces generally succeeded in developing reading culture in 2022. Two teams from the MPS participated in the National Book Promotion Festival themed “Nhung nguoi con bat tu” (The Immortals) organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and won two national A prizes and a public choice award.

Most public security units across the country now have library and reading space with modern facilities and equipment, meeting the demand of public security soldiers and officers for reading, according to the Department of Party and Political Affairs.

Besides, public security agencies and units frequently launched various activities to encourage and draw a large number of public security officers and soldiers to enrich their knowledge in 2022, including a reading movement themed “Public Security Forces read, study and follow the example of President Ho Chi Minh” as well as a movement called “Ho Chi Minh Bookcase”, as well as various book exhibitions and reading contests.

Local police units also effectively responded to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, aiming to promote reading habits of police officers and soldiers.

Notably, the Ha Nam Provincial Police Department held an online book introduction contest for all police officers and soldiers with the theme “Dedication Aspirations”, while the Phu Yen Provincial Police Department organized a contest called “Promotion and introduction of books in Vietnam” and the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police Department launched a movement called “Green Library - Promoting Reading Culture” and a seminar on digital transformation in their library. Similarly, the Son La Provincial Police Department coordinated with the Provincial Library to organize the 2022 Reading Festival “Youth of the Ho Chi Minh generation”, and the Police Department of Tay Ninh held the “Day of Reading and Reading Culture”, displaying 200 books and typical written works on “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and style”, “Six teachings of Uncle Ho to the Public Security Force” while the Phu Tho Provincial Police held an online book introduction contest named “The book I love”.
