Nghe An Police launch intensive campaign to ensure traffic safety during Tet season

PSNews – The Nghe An Provincial Police Department on November 22 held a conference to review the implementation of the task of ensuring traffic safety in 2019 and launched an intensive campaign to ensure traffic safety and order before, during and after the 2020 Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).

According to the Nghe An Traffic Police Division, in the first 10 months of 2019, 209 traffic accidents occurred in Nghe An, leaving 129 dead and 156 injured. The number of accidents reduced by 35 cases while the number of dead and injured shrank by 35 and 51, respectively, compared to the same period in 2018.

The Provincial Traffic Police Force also carried out regular patrols to ensure road traffic safety with the participation of nearly 110,000 turns of police officers and soldiers.

On the waterway routes, the local traffic police also carried out 270 patrols with 900 turns of police officers and soldiers.

Through the patrols, the Nghe An Traffic Police Force has discovered 700 cases of law violation and arrested 686 people involved, seized nearly 40 kilograms of drugs, over 1 ton of firecrackers, hundreds of kilograms of wildlife animals, along with many other illegal goods and minerals. 

The intensive campaign to ensure traffic safety and order before, during and after the 2020 Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) officially started from November 15th 2019 and last until February 14th 2020.

All police units of Nghe An Province are required to mobilize  their forces and means, resources to synchronously and drastically apply professional methods to reduce traffic accidents, prevent serious traffic accidents and traffic jams, facilitating citizens’ travelling during the festive season of 2020.
